Long-Term Professional Internships and Training
The International Program of US Together / Columbus International Program offers a variety of training programs:
- Cultural and Occupational Resource Exchange program (CORE) – a program intended for participants from foreign countries who want to visit the U.S. but need help with a professional placement. The site and training, as well as support with living accommodations and U.S. visa services, are established by CIP. Length of stay is 1-18 months. For more information, please click here.
- Global Partners Program – a training placement program for U.S. businesses funded by the host company or corporation. The Global Partners Program allows individuals to come to the U.S. when they have already found and established a training site with a local organization. Length of stay is 1-18 months. - Cultural Exchange Intern Program - designed to allow students of degree-seeking programs or recent graduates from foreign universities to come to the United States to gain exposure to U.S. culture and to gain professional experience in their chosen field of study. Programs are also designed to enhance Americans' knowledge of foreign cultures and skills through an open interchange of ideas between participants and their American associates. The primary goals of these programs are to allow participants the opportunity to engage broadly with Americans, share their culture, strengthen their English language abilities, and learn new skills or build skills that will help them in future careers at home. Interested professionals are encouraged to contact us with any questions, and apply using the downloadable applications attached to program descriptions.
Short-Term Exchange Programs
We organize short-term intensive training programs for individuals or groups, such as:
- Professional Delegations / International Professional in Residence (IPR) On-Demand – short-term exchanges initiated by individual professionals from different countries who have field-specific interests. Participation is self-funded or grant funded.
- International Summer Camps - exchange programs for international high-school or college students who want to explore American culture and academic life. Programs are usually organized in collaboration with other local American organizations. Program's duration is usually two weeks.
- Immersion Programs - customized cultural programs, focused on helping foreign citizens understand U.S. traditions and society. Cultural immersion is a unique experience that open doors to a deeper understanding of an unfamiliar place. Activities in such programs may include: English language classes, living with a host family, city sightseeing, tours to local places of interest (universities, museums, historic sites), etc.
Our programs are designed to provide intensive training to international professionals in a variety of fields. During their training in Central Ohio, visiting professionals learn transferable skills through seminars, new professionals relationships, and meetings with local organization, businesses, and agencies. Professionals gain knowledge and tools necessary to help them grow in their careers and provide new solutions in their communities at home. All programs are personalized to the specific interests and experience of the participants.
As part of a short-term training program, all participants receive:
- Airport pick-up and drop-off
- An orientation to the U.S. and a tour of the city
- Personalized training based on the group's needs
- Visits to local organizations whose work is relevant to the group's training field
- Planned cultural visits to local museums, city landmarks, and other tourist destinations
- Arranged living with a host family
- A chance to interact with U.S. counterparts, both professionally and informally
- An opportunity for you to share your country's customs and history
- Free time to participate in leisure activities
- A certificate of completion
